Announcement of the 42st President and Vice President election of the Architectural Institute of Korea

The Architectural Institute of Korea will conduct a two-day study on February 2026 and 2, 25.
The following is announced regarding the 42st President and Vice President elections.

Qualifications for voting rights (Article 3 of the Officer Election Regulations)

  1. Regular members who have been approved as regular members for more than 5 years as of the election announcement date and have no disqualification reasons (members approved as regular members before January 14, 2021)
  2. ※ Disqualification means that, in accordance with Article 10 of the Articles of Incorporation, ‘membership will be suspended for those who have not paid membership fees for more than 2 years’ (including membership fees for 2026).

    ※ For members who have been approved as regular members for more than 5 years but are disqualified due to non-payment of membership dues, voting rights will be granted if they pay the unpaid membership dues (3 years' worth if unpaid for 3 years or more) by 18:00 on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, which is the relief period.

    As of the election announcement date, the voting rights of regular members who have been approved by the board of directors for more than 5 years after joining are available on the society website (https://www.aik.or.kr) - You can check it through the '42nd President and Vice President Election of the Architectural Institute of Korea - Voter List'.

Eligibility for election (Articles 2 and 7 of the Officer Election Regulations)

  1. President: Regular member who has served as an executive officer more than twice or as branch president
  2. Vice President: Regular member who served as an officer

    ※ However, the term of office here refers to the completion of the entire term of office of the executive as stipulated in the Articles of Incorporation. If the executive resigns or is dismissed before the expiration of the term of office, the term of office shall be replaced by the executive. I don't think it has been served.

    ※ A person who was elected or appointed as vice president in the previous election cannot register as a candidate for president.

    ※ Branch presidents can register as candidates for branch vice president.

  3. How to apply: Apply by yourself or your agent (bring a power of attorney) with the required documents.
  4. ※ Required documents: Candidate registration application, candidate recommendation letter (including list of candidate recommenders), candidate pledge for fair election, One copy of each election deposit remittance certificate and one ID photo (business card size)

    ※ The required document forms can be downloaded from the '42nd President and Vice President Election of the Architectural Institute of Korea - Election Bulletin Board - President and Vice President Candidate Registration Guide' on the society's website.

    ※ The list of candidates recommended by the Presidential candidate must be recommended by at least 25 regular members with the right to vote for officers, and the list of candidates recommended by the Vice Presidential candidate must be recommended by at least 10 regular members with the right to vote for officers. You must obtain a recommended signature (electronic signature is also acceptable).

election campaign

  1. ‘Election campaign’ refers to an activity aimed at making or preventing a person from being elected. However, simple expression of opinion, expression of intention, and preparation for election by a candidate are not considered election campaigns.
  2. Campaigning is permitted only from the end of the candidate symbol draw to the day before the election (after the symbol draw on January 23rd - 18:00 on February 24th).
  3. In addition to posting and distributing official promotional materials through the Election Commission, candidates and voters (excluding members of the Election Commission) may engage in election campaigns that fall under any of the following items.

    go. Email promotion to the email address registered when submitting the candidate registration application.

    me. Election campaigns using the Internet, including opening and operating a website

    all. Free personal speech or conversation in a public place targeting voters

  4. Candidates and voters shall not engage in any of the following acts in relation to elections:

    go. An act of slandering, slandering, or spreading false information about a candidate, his or her spouse, or immediate ascendants, descendants, or siblings.

    me. Acts that interfere with the exercise of members’ rights

    all. Acts that interfere with the election affairs of the National Election Commission (illegal acts in internet voting, etc.)

    la. An act of requesting, offering, or promising to provide money or property benefits or public or private positions in connection with an election.

    mind. Promoting candidates using mobile phone text messages and smartphone messenger services

    bar. The act of producing and distributing individual promotional materials

    buy. The act of campaigning in solidarity with candidates

    ah. The act of campaigning outside of the election campaign period

  5. If a member discovers an act that violates the provisions of Paragraph 4 above, he/she must report it to the Election Commission under his or her real name, and the Election Commission must not expose the reporter's identity to the outside world. The election management committee reviews the reported content and, if it is deemed to be in violation of the regulations, immediately notifies members of the decision in writing or by email and posts the fact on the society's website. Additionally, the Election Commission may take corresponding sanctions (disqualification of candidates, disciplinary action against members, etc.) for violations.
  6. When a candidate requests the issuance of a voter list, the National Election Commission may provide limited personal information of the voter.
  7. Other matters not covered by these regulations shall be subject to the Public Official Election Act and related regulations.

  1. Voting is done by anonymous secret ballot on the society's website, and in the case of on-site voting, it is also conducted on the society's website with the assistance of a voting clerk appointed by the society's secretariat staff or the election management committee.

  3. In the case of on-site voting, voting observers may be allowed to observe the voting situation. However, candidates must select a voting observer from among those eligible to vote and report it to the Election Commission by the day before the election day.

Vote counting, announcement of elected candidates and objections

  1. Vote counting is carried out by the Election Commission.
  2. The winners will be announced on the society's website after 2:26 on Thursday, February 18nd.
  3. Members may raise an objection to the vote count results to the Election Commission within one week after the announcement of the winner. If an objection is raised, the Election Commission must deliberate on it and immediately notify the objector of the result.

Others

  1. Matters not specified in this public notice or matters requiring interpretation in relation to election notices and election campaigns shall be subject to deliberation and resolution by the National Election Commission.
