The 1st University Student Modular Architecture Design Studio Competition
□ Purpose of promotion
Off-Site Construction (OSC) and modular construction methods are solutions for addressing current issues in the construction industry, such as labor shortages, safety accidents, and carbon emissions; they represent not merely a change in construction techniques but an area capable of expanding the very approach to architectural design.
This competition aims to foster an ecosystem for cultivating practical talent who will lead the future construction industry by linking with regular coursework to enhance understanding of OSC and modular construction and improve design capabilities, and to discover innovative ideas from aspiring architects that will unlock the diverse forms and possibilities of modular construction.
□ (1st Application) Participating University Application
• Application Categories: Colleges and professors operating the Design Studio for the 2nd semester of 2026
• Application Period: July 1, 2026 (Wed) ~ 2026 September 7 (Fri) July 31st (gold)
• Support Details: Funding for students participating in design classes
Educational support (special lectures on modular design practice, field trips, etc.)
※ A minimum of 2 teams must submit applications in the second round to be selected.
• Eligibility: Professors from relevant departments who will directly operate the design studio
• Submission Method: Submit via email (aikcompetition@aik.or.kr)
• Required Documents: Participating University Application Form (Check attached file)
□ (2nd Submission) Student Artwork Submission
• Submission Categories: OSC and Modular Design Works
• Application Period: December 1, 2026 (Tue) – December 31, 2026 (Thu)
• Eligibility: Students participating in Design Studio and university (graduate) students from relevant departments nationwide (teams of 1–3 people)
※ Currently enrolled or on leave of absence students in related departments at universities other than those selected in the first round are eligible to apply.
• Submission Method: Submit via email (aikcompetition@aik.or.kr)
• Required Documents: Application form, artwork panel, artwork description, etc.
※ Separate notice will be provided after October
□ Design Theme: Spatial Reconfiguration and Usage Expansion Using Modular Systems
□ Highlights
• 1st Application (Participating University Application): July 1, 2026 ~ October 7th October 7th
• Selection of Participating Universities: July 1, 2026 – August 14, 2026
• Classes at Participating Universities: Conducted as part of the 2nd semester of 2026
• 2nd Submission (Student Submission): December 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026
• Artwork Judging: January – February 2027
• Results Announcement: Late February 2027 ( 예정)
• Awards Ceremony and Exhibition: April 2027, Architectural Institute of Korea Spring Conference
