Timber construction is no longer merely an alternative to low-rise buildings, but is garnering attention as a core technology that is shifting the paradigm of future cities and the construction industry. Globally, carbon neutrality policies and tall-scale, large-scale timber construction projects are rapidly expanding, and related technologies—including structural engineering, fire and sound insulation performance, construction techniques, and design methods—are also advancing rapidly.
At the same time, wood is establishing itself as the new standard for future architecture as a renewable, eco-friendly building material and a sustainable resource that stores carbon. Wooden architecture is now recognized as a key solution that drives the competitiveness of the construction industry and urban sustainability, going beyond mere eco-friendly construction.
The Architectural Institute of Korea, Canada Wood Korea, ITCC, and Dankook University are hosting the "2026 Future of Timber Architecture: International Seminar on Medium- and Large-Scale Timber Architecture," inviting domestic and international experts in timber architecture.
This seminar will be a meaningful occasion to share the latest trends in overseas timber construction technology and practical application cases, and to explore new visions and development directions for strengthening the competitiveness of the domestic timber construction industry and promoting sustainable timber construction.
We look forward to the keen interest and active participation of construction companies, architectural design firms, structural engineers, public institutions, research institutes, academia, and professionals in related industries preparing for the future of timber architecture.
