A-Route Architects Co., Ltd. contemplates what constitutes a unique space suitable for us living in the present, and seeks to slowly look into the values embedded in old times and places by paying attention to them.
Based on observation and records, we are continuing the work of discovering values that remain valid amidst things that are disappearing, and reconstructing them in our own language.
Does 'A-Route Architects Co., Ltd.' have a unique philosophy or set of values?
Based on the aforementioned ideas, we have two branches: 'looking into the relationship between the local climate, time, nature, and architecture' and 'building wooden houses that are familiar to us'.
I would like to show that the values created by people who have lived in response to and close to the land and nature are still valid today, and that beauty can be created using those values.
I have been thinking about building a wooden house that suits our climate, using Western-style or modern wooden structures or materials, and possessing a sense of space and form familiar to us.
👣 What are the unique strengths of A-Route Architects?
I work with a focus on reading the land. In Jeju, which is close to nature, one encounters the primal land, light and darkness, wind and trees before urban situations or surrounding contexts.
In particular, since it flows with a slight slope from Mt. Halla to the sea, the terrain is quite undulating, and because nature has also entered my land, I find myself thinking about how to handle these things.
👣What do you consider most important when hiring new employees?
We place great importance on attitude. Along with sincerity, responsibility, and perseverance, it is crucial to see if you truly love architecture. We tend to carefully evaluate personal statements and interviews. This is because while a portfolio reveals architectural skills and dedication to projects, personal statements and interviews allow us to gauge your attitude.
In addition, I am more drawn to candidates when I see materials that specifically detail their motivation for applying and what they would like to achieve together in the future.
👣What should I prepare to help me prepare for job hunting?
I hope you will faithfully build your skills through the school's process while also discovering what you are interested in, and what kind of architecture and architects you like.
It is also important to set your own priorities when choosing a company. I believe it is crucial to determine what you consider important among various conditions, such as the firm's philosophy, find a firm that matches those criteria, and apply with sincerity.
