[Ask about employment_To major companies in the construction industry]
❗️Simless Architectural Firm❗️
👉 Simlis Architects & Engineers, with the motto of 'boundaryless design', carries out architectural projects in various fields, including residential/neighborhood living facilities/office facilities.
We provide organic and integrated design solutions across multiple scales, including interiors, cities, and products. We are not bound by any specific style or method, but rather pursue customized designs that begin with the client's needs and the context of the site.
We strive to provide design solutions optimized for each situation, based on creative and flexible thinking.
👣 Does '(주)SimmisArchitectureOffice' have its own philosophy or values?
👉 We prioritize a design that doesn't impose limitations. With every project, we break free from fixed formats, constantly exploring new possibilities and interpretations, and we don't hesitate to experiment with even the smallest details.
We prioritize the process of working with our clients over formulated results, pursuing authentic results that can only be achieved through this process.
👣 What are the strengths of 'Simless Architectural Firm'?
👉Our firm's core competencies lie in communication and participation. From the early design stages, we broadly gather ideas from all stakeholders, generate diverse solutions, and establish direction.
Furthermore, we do not stop at design alone; we aim to enhance the project's completeness through comprehensive participation.
👣You said you pursue 'boundaryless design', but what do you think is the most powerful 'boundary' that architecture can break down?
👉 The boundaries we consider are deeply connected to the individual design capabilities of architects. Rather than sticking to a specific style, we prefer to explore various alternatives and flexibly apply them to suit the needs of the project or client. We believe the process of experimenting with various alternatives and finding the optimal solution is crucial.
We also consider ourselves a company that provides design and design solutions tailored to our clients' challenges and needs. Therefore, we work across diverse fields and scales, including spatial design, product design, and urban and urban scales, flexibly embracing the very concept of boundaries.
👣What is the most important factor you consider when hiring new employees?
👉 This portfolio demonstrates your individuality and sincerity. Rather than focusing on the flashiness of your work, it should clearly demonstrate your creativity, along with the sincerity and depth with which you executed the project.
Additionally, since collaboration with diverse people is essential, communication flexibility and teamwork attitude are also key evaluation criteria during interviews.
👣What is the most memorable or cherished project you have worked on, and why?
👉 The Garak-dong major renovation project is the most memorable. It's significant because it was the first project I completed from start to finish without any outside assistance.
Unlike new construction, major renovations required a deep understanding of the existing building, and based on that understanding, I devoted considerable thought to how to enhance its value through design. This process was particularly memorable because it required comprehensive consideration of various factors, including economic considerations, in addition to mere design and layout.
👣Do you have any words or advice for the students?
👉 In practice, in addition to architectural knowledge, experience in various fields and communication skills are important, so I think that diverse experiences that are not limited to architecture are important.
The ability to adapt to real-world situations is difficult to learn in school, but diverse experiences are essential for effectively responding to real-world situations. Separate from design skills, problem-solving skills can be fully developed through experience.
It's also important to be flexible in your thinking. We need to think outside the box, not completely accepting the stereotypes and established frameworks of Korean society.
