👉Jejehap Architects & Engineers Co., Ltd. is an architectural firm that was officially established and accredited in February 2024, starting from the personal architectural work and challenges of Directors Jin-hwa Kim and Jong-dae Park.
👉As an architect, I am thinking about 'what kind of social value can I contribute at the intersection between people and cities?' and am attempting various works that expand from space to architecture and cities.
👣 Does '(주)제제합건축사실' have its own philosophy or values?
👉 We focus on creating aesthetic landscapes and spaces in a clear and intuitive manner, and integrate them with function to express the various stories that cities and architecture radiate through architectural work.
👉And by incorporating the architectural narratives that exist behind the physical environment into my work, I present the narrative perspective inherent in architecture and the city. Through the combination of these two, I aim to explore and realize new possibilities.
👣When implementing a narrative perspective in an architectural project, how do you actually reflect it in space or form?
👉 Narrative is not simply about fitting a story into a design, but rather approaching it as an architectural methodology.
👉I design by listening to people's narratives, considering which stories to choose, and how to highlight them. I use narrative as a structure that guides the overall design, considering the background and context of the space and its temporality. While it's not a defining element of the form, I consider it a framework that determines the perspective from which the space will be viewed.
👣 What are the strengths of '(주)제제합건축사실'?
👉 I believe the strength of Jejehap lies in the combination of Director Kim Jin-hwa's sensory design work and Director Park Jong-dae's narrative work. I believe this combination of differences leads to flexible thinking and creative ideas that aren't confined by any particular framework.
👣What is the most important factor you consider when hiring new employees?
💡 ';Perspective of Diversity'; 💡 ';Your Own Color';
👉 An architectural firm is completed through a combination of its architectural direction and the various roles it plays in achieving that direction. Therefore, when hiring new employees, rather than applying uniform standards, we prioritize diversity.
👉Some people might be interested in expressing their designs through models, while others might value deriving results through research.
👉In addition, I think it is important to consider how well each person utilizes their various strengths and interests to create a portfolio with their own unique color.
👣What should I prepare to help me prepare for job hunting?
👉 Your portfolio is the most important. Each project you complete each semester is crucial, so please be sincere in your design studio projects throughout the semester.
👉A good portfolio demonstrates a consistent tone and mood of your interests. You should strive to showcase your philosophy and process through four to five years of accumulated work.
👉Ultimately, your portfolio should consist of images, graphics, and content that all work together to create a single narrative.
👣Lastly, is there anything you would like to say to the students?
👉It's perfectly natural to feel anxious as a student. Architecture is a profession filled with experience, so the key is to constantly move and learn through hands-on experience.
👉It's okay to remain unfinished now. Even if everything around you seems to be going well, you can forge your own path. Someday, when things are over, you'll realize that "all the choices I've made were connected." Don't be anxious, just keep trying. That's the surest path, after all.
