⠀
📌Yeonhuijeongeum📌
'Yeonhuijeongeum' is the rebirth of the Kim Chung-up House, a space where space, people, and art meet to become an inspiration.
* Location: 17-3, Yeonhimat-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Yeonhui-dong)
[ Yeonhuijeongeum ]
The philosophy of Jeongeum aligns with the spirit of ‘righteousness (I) and benefit’ found in ‘Hunminjeongeum,’ which King Sejong created for free communication with his people. On this site, where King Sejong built ‘Yeonhuigung’ with the hope that ‘joy would overflow,’ we aim to become a space for communication.
[ Architect Kim Chung-up ]
💡 Architect Kim Chung-up’s late masterpiece, the house, has been reborn as a complex cultural space for sharing diverse inspirations through renovation. While maintaining the basic framework of the existing building, such as its structure, proportions, and the flow of light, only the damaged materials were minimally cleaned up.
[Complex Cultural Space]
💡 Various cultural programs are held in a space renovated from a house. The Kim Chung-up x Le Corbusier Architectural Photography Exhibition was held as Yeonheejeongeum's first exhibition. As you view the exhibition, you will naturally imagine what the space was like in the original house.
[ Prop Shop All Right ]
💡 This is a small shop selling various postcards, notebooks, and masking tapes. It is fun to browse as there are many desirable masking tapes and notebooks that would be great to use as design notes for an architecture student.
[ Cafe Pouring Out Meraki ]
💡 It was a cafe with a tranquil atmosphere, a space where you could quietly enjoy some leisure time. It was a great place to spend time having a cup of coffee after viewing the exhibition.
