The Seoul National University Museum of Art is the first university art museum in Korea, which originated from the Department of Modern Art at the Seoul National University Museum in 1946.

💡 The Seoul National University Museum of Art was designed as a mediating space connecting the campus and the local community. From the outset, 'connection' was a core concept, and the 'slice' traversing the building is an element that visually reveals this.
[ Hill ]
💡The Seoul National University Museum of Art is situated by drawing the flow of the hill into the architecture rather than carving out the existing topography. Beneath the obliquely floating mass, an open space is formed where the campus paths and nature connect.
[ stairs ]
The square-shaped rotating staircase connects the floors and creates the central circulation path within the art museum. The polycarbonate artificial lighting walls along the stairs softly diffuse light, emphasizing the direction of movement and the depth of the space.
[ Skylight ]
💡 The gallery's skylights filter natural light with fabric blinds. Rather than strong light entering directly, it is filtered once and diffuses softly into the exhibition space, creating a calm atmosphere for appreciating the artwork.
