The National Cheongju Museum is a national museum located in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. It is a space that investigates, researches, and exhibits the cultural heritage of the North Chungcheong region, and highlights the unique characteristics of Jungwon culture through various cultural education programs.

[ Architecture Resembling the Mountain Landscape, Speaking Through the Lines of the Roof ]
Located in the valley leading to Sangdangsanseong Fortress, the museum building was designed to be divided into several sections along the ridge to blend into the surrounding space. The strong lines of the roof are distinctive enough to clearly reveal the building's identity.
[ Engraved Time, Wandering History ]
💡In the outdoor area of the museum, the restored Baekje iron smelting furnace from the Jincheon Seokjang-ri Site and the Unified Silla tomb from the Cheongju Yongdam-dong Site have been restored and exhibited. Additionally, a new outdoor stone garden has been created using approximately 210 selected pieces from the 836 stone national heritage items donated by the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee.
[ Newly renovated permanent exhibition hall and over 1,400 historical items ]
💡 The National Cheongju Museum renovated its permanent exhibition halls in 2022. The Archaeology and Art Rooms display approximately 1,400 items, including excavated artifacts from Chungcheongbuk-do dating from the prehistoric era to the Joseon Dynasty and Buddhist steles, as well as the metal national heritage collection of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee.
[ The Most Brilliant Heritage and Rest ]
💡The Gold Crown Room at the National Cheongju Museum is specially exhibiting the gold crown from Seobong Tomb, the pinnacle of metalwork. Additionally, the休息 area is equipped with tactile experiences, audio descriptions, and large-print brochures for the visually impaired, and videos of famous landmarks in Chungbuk are also screened to provide a space for visitors to 'rest'.
[ A space communicating through culture beyond exhibitions ]
💡The National Cheongju Museum operates various educational and cultural programs, such as special exhibitions, children's museum school, and spring culture festivals, and is equipped with a children's museum and a state-of-the-art auditorium, providing visitors with rich cultural experiences and relaxation spaces.
[ Embracing Heritage with the Solidity of the Fortress ]
We have interpreted the nature of our ancestors who dreamed of living in seclusion in the mountains in a modern way, and by introducing the concept of a sturdy fortress, we have clearly established the image of the museum as a repository for precious national heritage.
