Inwangsan Forest Shelter is a shelter for citizens that was transformed from 'Inwang 20-buncho', one of the 3 military outposts built on the walls of Hanyangdoseong.

💡Under the sloping metal roof, the transparent glass interior is clearly visible. The bold, three-dimensional combination of aluminum, glass, and wood materials is a beauty unto itself. Stepping inside, you'll be struck by the unified use of wood throughout the space, from floor to ceiling, and even in the furniture, creating an overwhelming sense of spaciousness.
💡The fact that it remains under military ownership and thus has not been commercialized is actually a strength. This building embodies the aspirations of public architecture: that spaces accessible to everyone should provide a positive spatial experience and be well-built. The Forest Shelter won the Grand Prize at the 2021 Korea Wooden Architecture Competition, the Excellence Award at the 2021 Seoul Architecture Awards, and the 2021 Korea Institute of Architects Award.

💡The space is unified with the warm material of wood, allowing people to feel warm and overwhelmed and to fully view nature from within.
