“Ninety, Containing Space”: Seongsu WAVE

';;Seongsu WAVE';; is a commercial facility built in the 2010s, and is a red brick building that connects the past and present of Seongsu-dong.
* Location: 4F Cafe (Sandcabe), 22-18 Seoul Forest 1-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul
[ Brick cladding ]
💡The red brick exterior of Seongsu WAVE is the legal exterior material of Seongsu-dong and a material that symbolizes the local identity. However, it provides variety by using the method of stacking bricks at an angle and the method of emptying the gaps between the bricks instead of the traditional method of stacking stones. Furthermore, by forming a curvature with the bricks, it presents a new image with a familiar material.
[ Curvature and Sunlight ]
💡The curved façade open to the sky is shaped like a ';;WAVE';;. This naturally guides sunlight into the glass windows and interior space, while also providing privacy.
[ Large horizontal window ]
💡The large windows on the horizontal axis maximize the sense of openness inside, which is in line with the characteristics of the commercial space, and can encourage interaction with people walking down the street by utilizing the characteristics of the Seongsu area.
[ Space atmosphere ]
💡Inside the building, the soft sunlight streaming in through the gaps in the curved outer skin that opens up to the sky and the gaps in the bricks stacked in a transparent manner changes the atmosphere of the space from hour to hour. When you enter inside, there is a Concasse restaurant in the basement and a cafe called Sandcabe on the first floor. The cafe is a warm space with cute wooden furniture and planters that creates a completely different atmosphere from the outside.
