The 9th Smart Construction Seminar of the Smart Construction Exchange Association was held.
Seminar: "The Current State of the BIM Industry and Exploring Development Plans for Smart Construction and OSC"
Hosted by: Korea Construction Newspaper
Host: Smart Construction Exchange
Date: Friday, February 6, 2026, 1:2 PM ~
Venue: 2026 OSC EXPO Exhibition Hall 1 Special Seminar Hall
The domestic BIM industry has grown alongside the government's smart construction initiatives. However, recently, the entire ecosystem is facing a structural crisis that threatens its sustainability due to excessive competition, a labor shortage, falling unit prices, the limitations of a demonstration-focused policy, and stagnant private sector adoption.
In particular, the following issues are surfacing as we approach 2026:
Decrease in project unit price → Deterioration in management of specialized companies
BIM talent supply and demand imbalance and loss of highly skilled talent
The gap between the pace of change in ordering methods and public standards and their application on site.
After the empirical policy, there was no industrial expansion strategy.
Lack of connectivity with new technologies such as OSC, digital twins, and AI.
In this situation, to prevent the collapse of the BIM industry, experts in each field need to diagnose the problem and discuss new industry models and policy directions.
